It’s here: Bullet in the Face premieres tonight on IFC. The two-night event will have you laughing and cringing on the edge of your seat from the moment it kicks off at 10 p.m. ET. The controversial crime drama stars Max Williams as career criminal Gunter Vogler who is forced to assume the identity of a cop he shot and to work undercover to take down the city’s crime lords played by Eddie Izzard and Eric Roberts. To help the brutally funny show feel at home on our network, all this week we are showing our favorite action-packed blood-soaked movies. Tonight, it’s “Sin City”, one of the best book-to-screen adaptations of a graphic novel ever, at 8/7 c.
The Eisner Award-winning comic series was adapted for the silver screen by director Robert Rodriguez and creator Frank Miller. The film noir crime movie weaves together multiple storylines from the series’ dark history to paint a picture of the ultimate town without pity. There’s the street thug Marv (Mickey Rourke), whose desperate quest to find the killer of a prostitute named Goldie (Jaime King) will lead him to the foulest edges of town. Inhabiting many of those areas is Dwight (Clive Owen), a photographer in league with the sordid ladies of Sin City, headed by Gail (Rosario Dawson), who opens up a mess of trouble after tangling with a corrupt cop by the name of Jackie Boy (Benicio Del Toro). Finally, there’s Hartigan (Bruce Willis), an ex-cop with a heart problem who’s hell-bent on protecting a stripper named Nancy (Jessica Alba).
If you haven’t seen “Sin City” before you should watch because it’s awesome, plus everyone should brush up before the “Sin City” sequel hits. Rumor has it that the sequel will be composed of at least three stories — two from Frank Miller’s original comics (“A Dame To Kill For” and “Just Another Saturday Night”), and one new story he wrote for the film (“The Long, Bad Night”). Miller will co-direct the film, and Jessica Alba will reprise her role as Nancy Callahan. Her character is expected to provide a common element that connects all three stories. And have you seen the poster?
Watch the trailer now, then be sure to tune in tonight for both “Sin City” and, of course, Bullet in the Face:
