After his win over John Cena at “WrestleMania XXVIII,” the next Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson thing we’re most excited about is his appearance in this summer’s “G.I. Joe: Retaliation.” But while the sequel’s cast includes heavy hitters like Johnson, Channing Tatum and Bruce Willis, the recently released Japanese trailer puts its largest focus on the less well-known (in this country at least) Lee Byung-hun.
The South Korean actor, along with Tatum, is one of the few characters to come back following an appearance in 2009’s “G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra.” In both the first film as well as the sequel, Lee portrays iconic G.I. Joe ninja Storm Shadow, seen in this most recent and previous trailers having a frickin’ swordfight while climbing a sheer cliff face. As noted by Bleeding Cool it should come as no real surprise that the Japanese trailer puts such a heavy emphasis on the character, as the Asian market is an increasingly profitable one for American blockbuster films.
Other than the slightly adjusted focus, the trailer is more or less what we’ve seen so far: Neat White Stripes cover, The Rock making declarations and Bruce Willis shooting a humongous gun in the bed of what appears to be a bitchin’ El Dorado. That said, all of those things are profoundly awesome.
