Here’s a free abridged (okay, really abridged) adaptation of Charles Portis’ novel “True Grit,” the source material for two film adaptations, including the 2010 version by the Coen Brothers that just earned ten Academy Award nominations. It’s all the fun of reading Portis’ novel without the pesky annoyance of having to use your imagination!
In the Coens’ film, Cogburn is introduced as a witness in a murder trial. The comic, “True Grit: Mean Business,” llustrated by Christian Wildgoose and lettered by Jim Campbell, depicts the events Cogburn describes, including the shooting that sparks the intense cross-examination seen in the film. The full 20 page comic is available on comiXology or you can also find a downloadable .pdf of the comic here.
