“The Grid” is IFC’s new series about what’s next in movies, gadgets, viral videos, games, and more. Each Thursday, IFC News dives into our archives to bring you more on this week’s cool stuff. Here’s what going on this week in “The Grid”:
–Jesse Thorn (acid) drooled over the “Alien Anthology” Blu-ray set which comes out on October 26 and includes the four “Alien” films and a (space)boatload of extras. If you want to read more about Ridley Scott, director of the first “Alien” and the upcoming 3D “Alien” prequel, check out Vadim Rizov’s piece from May about the use of color in his commercials and features. It’s so interesting your chest will burst.
–Jesse also told you about Think Geek’s Zombie Blood and “The Dead Set,” the new horror mini-series premiering on IFC on October 23. To learn about the series, IFC’s Indie Screams lineup for the month of October, and about our daily Twitter contest for cool IFC swag check out the IFC Now blog. But be warned: the contest will require much use of BRAINS! BRAINS! And so on.
–Ryan Downey previewed the Austin City Limits Music Festival, which runs this weekend in Austin, Texas. The headliners include Phish and The Strokes — and for a peek at what The Strokes have been up to, check out Brandon Kim’s post about the soundtrack to Sofia Coppola’s new film “Somewhere.” Click over and you can also watch the trailer, which features The Strokes song “I’ll Try Anything Once.”
“The Grid” airs every Thursday at 7:45 PM eastern. For more from “The Grid” go to IFC.com/The-Grid.
