Comic-book nerds and zombie fanatics alike have all been excited since Robert Kirkham’s modern comics classic The Walking Dead was optioned by AMC a few years ago. The 2010 Comic-Con International saw tons of footage debut to enthusiastic response. While the show doesn’t start airing until Halloween, that same enthusiasm inspired one Daniel Kanemoto to create a credit sequence using artwork from the Image Comics series and the Eels tune “Fresh Blood.”
The reason I love this clip–aside from it being exceedingly well-done–is twofold: (1) When intellectual properties make the jump from one medium to another, there’s a danger that their roots get forgotten and (2) it far outclasses a lot of the work being done to make the dubious motion comics that some publishers are foisting on their audiences. So, kudos to you, Daniel Kanemoto. May your love of comics and zombies be fulfilled with the premiere of “The Walking Dead” on AMC in one short month.
